Project Management
The Alpha Taxiway Project was required to replace the existing Taxiway concrete pavement which had reached the end of its design life and also due to updated safety requirements the position of the Taxiway had to be moved further from the Runway outside a Safety Zone of 150m.These works required a major re-development of the airfield including the movement of an adjacent road to stay outside the Safety Zone.Key points of the project included:
Over 40,000 square metres of new Pavement.
15 Kilometres of below ground drainage.
Over 30,000 cubic metres of existing pavement, some reinforced, broken out and crushed for future use as capping material.
Over 9 Kilometres of single and multiple underground electrical ducting.
Reed beds planted to clean all Pavement runoff in an effort to eliminate pollution.
This major project was completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget.
