The role of IPM Limited on the Hold Baggage System (HBS) replacement commenced from Client Brief and budget approval through to final commissioning handover.During the process, our role was to establish the client requirements through a demand and capacity analysis. We then obtained expressions of interest and budget costs for the HBS, x-ray replacement and building works which were used to obtain funding approval. During the design stage our role was to co-ordinate all elements of the project including user client input, mechanical and electrical interface, logistics trials, budget compliance etc.The two carousel system selected was assessed in various redundancy modes to give resilience and also discussed with the DfT to ensure that it met their requirements. The selected system was then sent out to tender and a structured technical assessment was made of the tender returns and combined with the quoted price to select the preferred tenderer.During the construction, we administered the HBS and x-ray contracts and provided a Construction Management role to co-ordinate each work package together with the Airport’s need to keep the Airport running as usual.This project is now operational and was completed within budget and ahead of the busy summer schedule.
